Which one fits your team

Choose Posty if

  • You want approval workflows without paying $399 a user a month for them.
  • Several people or clients need access and the bill should not grow with each login.
  • You publish to Discord or WordPress as well as the main networks.

Choose Hootsuite if

  • You publish to X or answer customers on WhatsApp.
  • One or two people run social and Standard’s 10 accounts are enough.
  • You need Enterprise extras such as advanced analytics for social attribution.

Per seat against per workspace

Hootsuite bills every user at the plan’s rate: $99 a month on Standard, $199 on Professional and $399 on Advanced, billed annually. Posty bills each workspace, one per brand or client: Growth is $32 a month billed annually for up to 10 people, and Accelerate is $40 with no limit. Adding a designer or a client approver to Posty never changes the bill.

Approvals on Advanced, or from Growth

Hootsuite lists approval workflows on Advanced and Enterprise only, and its help centre describes approvers as team members with access to the account. Posty includes required approval from Growth. Clients join their own workspace with client visibility and approve there, and Accelerate adds a chain where your team approves before the client.

Both have an inbox; Hootsuite’s covers more

Hootsuite includes an inbox for comments and direct messages on every plan, and Posty on every paid plan. Hootsuite adds WhatsApp and, on Advanced, assignment and routing. Posty’s inbox covers Bluesky, Facebook, Instagram, Threads and YouTube; it does not yet bring in TikTok or LinkedIn conversations.

The networks each one publishes to

Hootsuite publishes to X and connects Google Business Profile through an app; Posty supports neither. Posty publishes to Discord and WordPress, which Hootsuite does not list. Both cover Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, LinkedIn, YouTube, Threads, Pinterest and Bluesky.

Moving from Hootsuite to Posty

Posty does not import from Hootsuite, so the move is done by hand. Most of it is connecting accounts and moving the posts still waiting to go out.

  1. 1

Create a workspace for each brand or client

Add one workspace per brand or client and set each one’s timezone, so every post publishes at the local time you planned.

  2. 2

    Connect the social accounts

Sign in to each network through its own consent screen. Nobody shares a password, and each account belongs to one workspace.

  3. 3

Invite the team and set the approval rule

Invite your team with the roles they need, choose the approval rule for each workspace, and invite clients with client visibility.

  4. 4

    Move the scheduled posts across

Recreate the posts still scheduled in Hootsuite, then remove them from Hootsuite so nothing publishes twice.

Questions about Posty and Hootsuite

Is Posty cheaper than Hootsuite?
For a team, usually. Five people running three brands with approvals pay $1,995 a month on Hootsuite Advanced (5 seats at $399, billed annually). On Posty Growth the same team pays $96 a month for three workspaces, billed annually. Without approvals, Hootsuite Standard is $495 a month for five people.
Does Posty support X (Twitter)?
No. Posty does not publish to X or Google Business Profile. If X is central to your plan, Hootsuite, Sprout Social, Buffer and Planable all support it.
Can clients approve posts in Hootsuite?
Hootsuite’s help centre covers approvals by team members who have access to the social account, and it documents no separate external approver. Check with Hootsuite if your clients need to sign off without a seat.
How do the free trials compare?
Hootsuite offers a 14 day trial with no card required. Posty has a 7 day trial of Starter, Growth or Accelerate, once per team. It needs a card, and Stripe bills the plan you chose when the trial ends unless you cancel. The Free plan includes Link in Bio only, not scheduling.
Can I run Posty and Hootsuite side by side while I switch?
Yes. Connect the same accounts to Posty and move posts across week by week. Make sure a post is only scheduled in one tool, or it will publish twice.
