Posty vs Postizapprovals, inbox and hosting
Posty vs Postiz is about what happens before and after a post goes out. Postiz is open source, can be self-hosted and publishes to 34 networks, but approval is a comment on a preview link and there is no inbox. Posty holds a post until it is approved and brings comments and DMs into one inbox.

Which one fits your team
Choose Posty if
- A post must not go live until a teammate or client approves it.
- You answer comments and DMs in the same tool you publish from.
- You would rather not run PostgreSQL, Redis and Temporal or register an app with every network.
Choose Postiz if
- You want open source, or need to run the scheduler on your own servers.
- You publish to X, Reddit, Telegram, Mastodon or Slack.
- Many small clients share one plan priced by channels.
Open source and self-hosted, or hosted for you
Postiz is open source under the AGPL-3.0 licence, and a self-hosted install has no plan limits. You run it with PostgreSQL, Redis and Temporal, register your own developer app with each network and bring your own AI keys. Posty is hosted only: there is nothing to install or keep running, and no way to run it on your own servers.
Approval as a step, or a comment
Postiz’s documentation calls approval “a conversation, not a state”: you keep posts as drafts, send a preview link for comments, then schedule them yourself, and nothing stops an unapproved post. In Posty, required approval holds a post until someone with approval rights signs it off, from Growth, and Accelerate asks your team first and the client second.

An inbox, or none
Postiz’s plans and documentation include no inbox for comments or direct messages. Posty’s inbox brings in comments and messages from Bluesky, Facebook, Instagram, Threads and YouTube on every paid plan, so replies happen in the tool you publish from.
Priced by channels, or by workspace
Postiz prices hosted plans by channels across your whole organisation: Standard is $29 a month for 5 channels and one person, Team $39 for 10 channels and unlimited team members, Pro $49 for 30. Posty’s plans cost $29, $39 and $49 a month too, but per workspace, one per brand or client. For an agency with many small clients, Postiz costs less.

Moving from Postiz to Posty
Posty does not import from Postiz, so the move is done by hand. Each Postiz customer group becomes a Posty workspace.
- 1
Turn each customer into a workspace
Create one workspace for each customer group you use in Postiz and set its timezone, so every post publishes at the local time you planned.
- 2
Connect the social accounts
Sign in to each network through its own consent screen. Nobody shares a password, and each account belongs to one workspace.
- 3
Invite the team and set the approval rule
Invite your team with the roles they need, choose the approval rule for each workspace, and invite clients with client visibility.
- 4
Move the scheduled posts across
Recreate the posts still scheduled in Postiz, then delete them there so nothing publishes twice.
Questions about Posty and Postiz
- Is Postiz free?
- Self-hosting Postiz is free under the AGPL-3.0 licence, though you pay for the servers and run PostgreSQL, Redis and Temporal yourself. Postiz Cloud has no free plan; it costs from $29 a month, or $278 a year, after a 7 day trial that needs a payment method.
- Does Postiz have approval workflows?
- Not as a step that holds a post. Its documentation says no approved flag blocks publishing: clients comment on a public preview link, and you schedule the post yourself once they agree.
- Is Posty cheaper than Postiz?
- Not for most agencies. Postiz Team is $39 a month for 10 channels across every client, with unlimited team members, while Posty Growth is $39 a month per workspace. Posty includes required approval, client sign-off and an inbox in that price.
- Do both have an API and an MCP server?
- Postiz includes its API, CLI and MCP server on every plan. Posty includes API and MCP access on Growth and Accelerate.
- How do the free trials compare?
- Postiz Cloud has a 7 day trial that needs a payment method, and self-hosting costs nothing in licence fees. Posty has a 7 day trial of Starter, Growth or Accelerate, once per team. It needs a card, and Stripe bills the plan you chose when the trial ends unless you cancel. The Free plan includes Link in Bio only, not scheduling.
