Why your Facebook cover looks different on phones

On a computer, Facebook shows a Page cover at 851 by 315 pixels. On a phone it shows only the middle 1120 pixels of a 1702 pixel wide upload, cutting both sides. Text placed near either edge disappears on phones.

A blurry cover is usually one that was too small or saved as a heavily compressed JPEG. Uploading at 1702 by 630 pixels, twice the display size, gives Facebook more to work with. For covers with text or a logo, Facebook itself suggests PNG.

On a computer your Page’s profile photo covers the bottom left of the cover. The tool draws it, along with the phone band, so you can keep the message clear of both.

Events and groups use their own shapes: 1920 by 1005 pixels for an event cover and 1640 by 856 pixels for a group cover. Crop them here from the same photo so every cover matches.
