The TikTok frame and what covers it
TikTok is built for 9:16 at 1080 by 1920 pixels. Photos and videos in other shapes are shown with bars or zoomed to fill, which crops them. Make the image that shape yourself and you decide what is kept.
TikTok puts the caption, sound and account name along the bottom and the like, comment, share and profile buttons down the right. The bottom is the most crowded part of the screen: keep text out of the bottom 480 pixels and in from the right edge. The tool shades those areas over your crop.
For photo posts, TikTok takes JPEG or WebP images up to 20 MB each, and up to 35 in one post. Cropping every photo to the same vertical frame keeps the set consistent as people swipe.
The tool also crops your profile photo to 200 by 200 pixels inside a circle guide. It works on images only; to change a video’s shape, use a video editor.

- No. It crops still images: photos for a photo post, cover images and title cards. It does not edit or resize video. Crop the stills here and put them into your video editor if they belong inside the video.

- The part of the screen TikTok does not cover. Keep text out of the bottom 480 pixels, where the caption and sound sit, the top 160 pixels, and 120 pixels in from the right, where the buttons are.
- What size are TikTok photo posts?
- Photo posts take JPEG or WebP images up to 20 MB each, up to 35 in one post. Crop them all to 1080 by 1920 pixels so they fill the screen.
- Is my photo uploaded anywhere?
- No. Your photo opens in your browser and is processed on your own device; it is never sent to Posty or anyone else. Saving a download re-encodes the image, which also strips the EXIF data your camera stored, including GPS location. You do not need an account.
