One Reel cover, two crops

A Reel cover is shown in two places. In the Reels tab and the feed it is full screen, 9:16 at 1080 by 1920 pixels. On your profile grid it is cut to a centred 3:4 rectangle, which drops 240 pixels from the top and the bottom. A cover designed only for one view often fails in the other.

Put the title and the subject in the middle of the frame. Full screen, Instagram also covers the bottom 320 pixels with the caption and the right edge with its buttons, so the middle is the only part that is clear in both views. The tool draws the grid crop and the Reel safe zone together.

A frame from the video keeps the cover consistent with the Reel. A designed cover with a title can make a series easy to browse on your grid. Either way, the tool reads your video locally, lets you step to the frame you want and crops it at full resolution.

What size is an Instagram Reel cover?
1080 by 1920 pixels, the same 9:16 frame as the Reel. On your profile grid it is shown as a centred 3:4 crop, the middle 1080 by 1440 pixels.
Why does my Reel cover look cropped on my profile?
Your grid cuts every Reel cover to a centred 3:4, losing 240 pixels from the top and the bottom. A title near either edge disappears. Keep the words and the face in the middle band and the cover works in both places.
Can I use a frame from my video as the cover?
Yes. Add the video, scrub to the moment you want and the tool grabs that frame at full resolution. The video plays in your browser and never leaves your device.
How do I add a custom cover to a Reel?
When you share a Reel in the Instagram app, tap the cover on the final screen. You can pick a frame from the video or add an image from your camera roll, which is where the file from this tool goes.
Is my video or image uploaded anywhere?
No. Your video or image opens in your browser and is processed on your own device; it is never sent to Posty or anyone else. Saving a download re-encodes the image, which also strips the EXIF data your camera stored, including GPS location. You do not need an account.
