Why posts fail at publish time

Every network enforces its own rules when a post is published, and they do not match. Instagram takes photos from 4:5 to 1.91:1, Bluesky allows 300 characters, YouTube thumbnails stop at 2 MB. A post that is fine on one network can be refused by another, often at the moment it was meant to go out.

This checker uses the validation rules Posty’s publisher runs before a scheduled post can go out. It checks caption length in each network’s own counting unit, hashtag count, file size, image shape, video length and the number of photos or videos in one post.

To measure your files it reads them locally: pixel size, file size and video duration. Nothing is uploaded, so you can check a client’s unreleased campaign without it leaving your machine.

Usually the shape. Through its API, Instagram takes photos only from 4:5 to 1.91:1 and up to 8 MB, so a taller 3:4 photo fails even though the app would take it. The checker flags it before you schedule.
