WordPress limitations

Posty publishes to your WordPress site through its REST API, with access you approve on the site itself or through WordPress.com. Each post gets a title, status, category, tags and a featured image; the site's own theme does the rest.

Publishing limits

The limits WordPress applies to posts published through its official API. Posty checks every one of these while you compose.

WordPress itself sets no limit on post length.

Files are uploaded to the site's media library. The upload size limit is set by your host.

Post typesany type your user can create

Posts, pages, and custom types exposed to the REST API under wp/v2.

Rows marked Posty are current Posty product choices rather than hard platform rules.

Analytics

None. WordPress core does not record views, so there is nothing for Posty to read.

Inbox & messaging

Not available. Posty does not read WordPress comments.

Good to know

  • Self-hosted sites need WordPress 5.6 or later: you approve Posty on the site's own screen, which creates an Application Password for it. Sites on WordPress.com, or connected through Jetpack, connect by signing in with WordPress.com.
  • Sites must be served over https. Some security plugins block the REST API or strip the login header; allow the REST API for your user if connecting fails.
  • Deleting a post in Posty moves it to the WordPress trash, where it can be restored for 30 days.

These limits apply to every tool

They come from WordPress's official API, so no scheduler can exceed them. Posty validates against every limit on this page while you compose: if your post passes, WordPress will accept it.
