Connect LinkedIn to Postyprofiles and Pages

Posty can publish to your personal LinkedIn profile or to a Company Page you administer. You sign in with LinkedIn, then choose where Posty should publish. Each connection adds one profile or Page.

New LinkedIn connections are paused. On the Channels page the tile reads “Connections are temporarily unavailable while platform approval is pending.” The steps below are how connecting works once it reopens.

What you need
A LinkedIn profile, or an admin role on a Company Page
Where you sign in
LinkedIn’s own window, then Posty’s picker
How long it lasts
A fixed period, shown as a countdown on the card

Before you connect LinkedIn

Have these ready and the connection takes a couple of minutes.

Your profile, or a Page admin role
Your own profile is always offered. A Company Page appears when LinkedIn lists you as one of its admins: super admin, content admin or sponsored content poster.
Sign in as yourself
LinkedIn connects the person who signs in. To publish to a colleague’s profile, they connect it themselves.
A Posty plan that includes channels
Free includes Link in Bio only. Starter connects up to 10 channels per workspace; Growth and Accelerate have no channel limit. You can try any paid plan for 7 days, once per team: the trial needs a card and bills automatically unless you cancel.
A role that can connect channels
Only roles with permission to connect channels see the LinkedIn tile on Channels. Roles and permissions

What Posty asks LinkedIn for

LinkedIn shows Posty’s request on its own screen. The permissions cover your profile, the Pages you administer, publishing and analytics.

If a permission is missing, Posty still connects what you choose and the card shows Missing permissions with the features affected.

Connect LinkedIn step by step

  1. 1

    Open Channels and choose LinkedIn

In your workspace, open Channels and select the LinkedIn tile under Connect a channel. Posty opens LinkedIn in a small window, or in the whole tab if your browser blocks pop-ups.

    • LinkedInConnections are temporarily unavailable while platform approval is pending.
The LinkedIn tile on the Channels page, which reads: Connections are temporarily unavailable while platform approval is pending.
  2. 2

Sign in to LinkedIn and allow access

Sign in on LinkedIn’s screen and allow access. Finish within 10 minutes, or the attempt expires and you start again.

  3. 3

    Choose where to publish

Back in Posty, Choose where to publish lists your profile and the Company Pages you administer. Pick one and select Connect. Something you already connected says so, and picking it again refreshes its access.

    Choose where to publish

Connect your LinkedIn profile or one of the Company Pages you administer to this workspace.

Check it worked

When it works, Posty shows

“LinkedIn connected successfully!”

The profile or Page appears under Connected channels. Select the status icon on its card: a green check and Connected mean everything came through.

Reconnect LinkedIn

LinkedIn access lasts a fixed time and renewing it does not extend that, so the card always shows a countdown and warns you in the final week.

Select Reconnect, sign in and pick the same profile or Page. Posty updates the existing channel instead of adding another.

Fix common LinkedIn connection errors

Each message below is what Posty shows, followed by what to do about it.

“Connections are temporarily unavailable while platform approval is pending.”
New LinkedIn connections and reconnects are paused for every Posty workspace. Nothing in your account needs changing; the tile works again once LinkedIn’s approval comes through.
“LinkedIn connect was cancelled.”
The request was declined on LinkedIn’s screen. Start again from the LinkedIn tile and allow access.
“LinkedIn connect session expired. Please try again.”
Finish within 10 minutes of selecting the tile, in the same browser.
Your Company Page is not in the list
LinkedIn only lists Pages where you hold an admin role. Ask a super admin of the Page to add you, then connect again.
“That LinkedIn profile or Company Page could not be connected. Please try again.”
Try again from the LinkedIn tile. If a Page keeps failing, check your admin role on it in LinkedIn.
The card says Missing permissions
Someone unticked a permission on the network’s screen. Select Reconnect on the channel and allow everything listed. The warning clears once the reconnect completes.
“Upgrade to connect”
The workspace has used every channel its plan includes. Starter connects up to 10; Growth and Accelerate have no limit. Disconnect a channel you no longer use, or change plan.

Plan every network on one calendar

Connect your networks once, then plan, approve and publish to all of them from one calendar.
