Connect Pinterest to Postyboards and permissions

You connect a Pinterest account by signing in on Pinterest’s own screen. Posty connects it straight away and uses one of its boards as the default for new Pins.

Before you connect Pinterest

Have these ready and the connection takes a couple of minutes.

A board to pin to
Every Pin goes to a board. If the account has none yet, Posty still connects it and asks you to create a board before you post.
A Posty plan that includes channels
Free includes Link in Bio only. Starter connects up to 10 channels per workspace; Growth and Accelerate have no channel limit. You can try any paid plan for 7 days, once per team: the trial needs a card and bills automatically unless you cancel.
A role that can connect channels
Only roles with permission to connect channels see the Pinterest tile on Channels. Roles and permissions

What Posty asks Pinterest for

Pinterest lists five permissions, and Posty needs every one: boards and Pins to publish, and account access for analytics.

If Pinterest reports one missing, the connection stops and the error names it. Connect again and leave every permission ticked.

Connect Pinterest step by step

  1. 1

    Open Channels and choose Pinterest

In your workspace, open Channels and select the Pinterest tile under Connect a channel. Posty opens Pinterest in a small window, or in the whole tab if your browser blocks pop-ups.

    • PinterestConnect account
The Pinterest tile on the Channels page, which reads: Connect account
  2. 2

Sign in to Pinterest and allow access

Sign in on Pinterest’s screen and allow every permission. Finish within 10 minutes, or the attempt expires and you start again.

  3. 3

    Check the default board

The window closes and the account is connected. Posty uses the first board Pinterest returns as the default, shown under the account name. You can pick another board for each Pin in the composer.

  4. 4

No board yet? Create one in Posty

If the account has no boards, its status shows No board yet. Select Create board, give it a name, and Posty creates it on Pinterest and makes it the default.

    Create Pinterest board

The board will be created in this connected Pinterest account and used as its default in Posty.

Check it worked

When it works, Posty shows

“Pinterest connected successfully!”

The account appears under Connected channels with its default board underneath. Select the status icon on the card: a green check and Connected mean it is ready to pin.

Reconnect Pinterest

Posty asks Pinterest to extend access each time it renews it, so the card says it stays connected automatically.

If the card says Stopped working, for example after Posty’s access was removed in Pinterest, select Reconnect and sign in again. Reconnecting sets the default board back to the first one Pinterest returns.

Fix common Pinterest connection errors

Each message below is what Posty shows, followed by what to do about it.

The error names a missing permission
Posty needs all five Pinterest permissions. Connect again and leave every one ticked on Pinterest’s screen.
“Create a board to start posting to this channel.”
The account has no boards. Open the status popover, select Create board and name it.
“Failed to connect Pinterest: invalid_state”
The sign-in took longer than 10 minutes, or finished in a different browser. Select the Pinterest tile again and complete it in the window that opens.
The card says Stopped working
Pinterest no longer accepts Posty’s access. Select Reconnect and sign in again. Posts to this channel won’t go out until you do.
“Upgrade to connect”
The workspace has used every channel its plan includes. Starter connects up to 10; Growth and Accelerate have no limit. Disconnect a channel you no longer use, or change plan.

Plan every network on one calendar

Connect your networks once, then plan, approve and publish to all of them from one calendar.
