Connect YouTube to Postychannel and permissions
Posty uploads to the YouTube channel of the Google account you sign in with. You approve access on Google’s screen and the channel connects straight away, with no extra step in Posty.
- What you need
- A Google account with a YouTube channel
- Where you sign in
- Google’s own consent screen
- How long it lasts
- No deadline; it stays until access is removed
Before you connect YouTube
Have these ready and the connection takes a couple of minutes.
- A YouTube channel on the account
- The Google account must already have a YouTube channel. If it does not, create one in YouTube first, then connect.
- The account that owns the channel
- Posty connects the channel of the account you approve with. To connect a different channel, sign in to Google as the account that owns it.
- A Posty plan that includes channels
- Free includes Link in Bio only. Starter connects up to 10 channels per workspace; Growth and Accelerate have no channel limit. You can try any paid plan for 7 days, once per team: the trial needs a card and bills automatically unless you cancel.
- A role that can connect channels
- Only roles with permission to connect channels see the YouTube tile on Channels. Roles and permissions
What Posty asks YouTube for
Google lists four permissions. Uploading needs one; the others let Posty import your videos, read and answer comments and show analytics.
| What it unlocks in Posty | Permission requested |
|---|---|
| Publishing | youtube.upload |
| Importing your posts | youtube.readonly |
| Comments | youtube.force-ssl |
| Analytics | yt-analytics.readonly |
Google lets you untick some. Posty connects anyway, records what is missing and shows Missing permissions on the card, naming the features that will not work until you reconnect.
Connect YouTube step by step
- 1
Open Channels and choose YouTube
In your workspace, open Channels and select the YouTube tile under Connect a channel. Posty opens Google in a small window, or in the whole tab if your browser blocks pop-ups.
- YouTubeConnect channel
The YouTube tile on the Channels page, which reads: Connect channel - 2
Choose your Google account
Pick the Google account that owns the channel, review what Posty asks for and allow every permission. Finish within 10 minutes, or the attempt expires and you start again.
- 3
Let the window close
Google sends you back, the window closes and the channel is connected. There is no channel to pick in Posty.
Check it worked
When it works, Posty shows
“YouTube connected successfully!”
The channel appears under Connected channels with its name and handle. Select the status icon on the card: a green check and Connected mean all four permissions came through.

Connected
The Harbour Bakery YouTube channel is fully connected.
Reconnect YouTube
Google access does not run out on a schedule, so the card says it stays connected automatically. You only reconnect when a permission is missing or the channel stops working.
Disconnecting YouTube in Posty also revokes Posty’s access with Google straight away. If you remove Posty from your Google account instead, the channel leaves your Channels page the next time Posty checks it. Connect it again from the YouTube tile.

Missing permissions
Importing your posts and comments won’t work until you reconnect and allow every permission.
Fix common YouTube connection errors
Each message below is what Posty shows, followed by what to do about it.
- “Your Google account has no YouTube channels. Create one and try again.”
- Create a channel in YouTube while signed in to that Google account, or connect again with the account that has the channel.
- “YouTube didn’t return a refresh token. Revoke Posty in your Google account, then reconnect.”
- Remove Posty’s access in your Google Account’s security settings, then select the YouTube tile again so Google asks you afresh.
- “YouTube connect was cancelled.”
- Access was declined on Google’s screen. Start again from the YouTube tile and allow access.
- “YouTube connect session expired. Please try again.”
- Finish within 10 minutes of selecting the tile, in the same browser.
- The card says Missing permissions
- Someone unticked a permission on the network’s screen. Select Reconnect on the channel and allow everything listed. The warning clears once the reconnect completes.
- “Upgrade to connect”
- The workspace has used every channel its plan includes. Starter connects up to 10; Growth and Accelerate have no limit. Disconnect a channel you no longer use, or change plan.
Plan every network on one calendar
Connect your networks once, then plan, approve and publish to all of them from one calendar.
