Connect TikTok to Postyaccount access and fixes
You connect a TikTok account by signing in on TikTok’s own screen. Posty then reads what your account allows, such as who can see a post, so the composer only offers choices TikTok will accept.
- What you need
- The TikTok account you post from
- Where you sign in
- TikTok’s own sign-in window
- How long it lasts
- Stays connected while Posty renews access
Before you connect TikTok
Have these ready and the connection takes a couple of minutes.
- The account you post from
- Posty connects whichever TikTok account approves the request, so check which one you are signed in as on TikTok’s screen before you allow access.
- Your TikTok settings still apply
- Who can see a post, and whether comments, Duets and Stitches are allowed, follow your TikTok account. Posty reads them when you connect and again when you compose, and only offers what TikTok allows.
- A Posty plan that includes channels
- Free includes Link in Bio only. Starter connects up to 10 channels per workspace; Growth and Accelerate have no channel limit. You can try any paid plan for 7 days, once per team: the trial needs a card and bills automatically unless you cancel.
- A role that can connect channels
- Only roles with permission to connect channels see the TikTok tile on Channels. Roles and permissions
What Posty asks TikTok for
TikTok lists four permissions on its screen. Publishing needs one of them; the others let Posty show your account, import your videos and report analytics.
| What it unlocks in Posty | Permission requested |
|---|---|
| Publishing | video.publish |
| Account access | user.info.basic |
| Analytics | user.info.stats |
| Importing your posts | video.list |
If you untick one, Posty still connects and records what is missing. The card shows Missing permissions with the features affected, and they stay off until you reconnect and allow everything. A missing analytics permission never stops publishing.
Connect TikTok step by step
- 1
Open Channels and choose TikTok
In your workspace, open Channels and select the TikTok tile under Connect a channel. Posty opens TikTok in a small window, or in the whole tab if your browser blocks pop-ups.
- TikTokConnect account
The TikTok tile on the Channels page, which reads: Connect account - 2
Sign in to TikTok and allow access
Sign in on TikTok’s screen, check it shows the account you mean to connect, and allow every permission. Finish within 10 minutes, or the attempt expires and you start again.
- 3
Let the window close
TikTok sends you back, the window closes and Posty reads your account’s posting options. There is nothing to pick: the account that approved is the one connected.
Check it worked
When it works, Posty shows
“TikTok connected successfully!”
The account appears under Connected channels with its name and @username. Select the status icon on the card: Connected with a green check means all four permissions came through.

Connected
The Harbour Bakery TikTok account is fully connected.
Reconnect TikTok
Posty renews TikTok access in the background, so the card says it stays connected automatically. You only reconnect when a permission is missing or the channel stops working.
If you remove Posty from your TikTok account, TikTok tells Posty straight away and the channel leaves your Channels page. To bring it back, connect the same account again from the TikTok tile.

Missing permissions
Analytics and importing your posts won’t work until you reconnect and allow every permission.
Fix common TikTok connection errors
Each message below is what Posty shows, followed by what to do about it.
- “Failed to connect TikTok: invalid_state”
- The sign-in took longer than 10 minutes, or finished in a different browser. Select the TikTok tile again and complete it in the window that opens.
- The composer does not offer Public
- Visibility choices come from your TikTok account, and Posty only offers the ones TikTok allows for it. Check the account’s privacy settings in TikTok.
- “This TikTok account has reached its daily post limit. Try again tomorrow.”
- TikTok caps how many posts an account can publish through apps each day. Schedule the rest for tomorrow.
- “TikTok has restricted this account from creating new posts.”
- TikTok has limited the account itself. Check the notifications in the TikTok app; Posty can publish again once TikTok lifts the restriction.
- The card says Missing permissions
- Someone unticked a permission on the network’s screen. Select Reconnect on the channel and allow everything listed. The warning clears once the reconnect completes.
- “Upgrade to connect”
- The workspace has used every channel its plan includes. Starter connects up to 10; Growth and Accelerate have no limit. Disconnect a channel you no longer use, or change plan.
Plan every network on one calendar
Connect your networks once, then plan, approve and publish to all of them from one calendar.
