Connect Threads to Postysign in and fixes
You connect a Threads profile by signing in on Threads’ own screen. Posty connects the profile that approves the request, uses its @username as the handle and keeps its access renewed.
- What you need
- The Threads profile you post from
- Where you sign in
- Threads’ own sign-in window
- How long it lasts
- Stays connected while Posty renews access
Before you connect Threads
Have these ready and the connection takes a couple of minutes.
- The profile you post from
- Posty connects whichever Threads profile approves the request, so check which one you are signed in as before you allow access.
- A Posty plan that includes channels
- Free includes Link in Bio only. Starter connects up to 10 channels per workspace; Growth and Accelerate have no channel limit. You can try any paid plan for 7 days, once per team: the trial needs a card and bills automatically unless you cancel.
- A role that can connect channels
- Only roles with permission to connect channels see the Threads tile on Channels. Roles and permissions
What Posty asks Threads for
Threads lists seven permissions. Two cover publishing and deleting posts; the rest cover your profile, insights and replies.
| What it unlocks in Posty | Permission requested |
|---|---|
| Account access | threads_basic |
| Publishing | threads_content_publishthreads_delete |
| Analytics | threads_manage_insights |
| Comments | threads_read_replies |
| Replying to comments | threads_manage_replies |
| Commenter profiles | threads_profile_discovery |
Posty connects with whatever you allow. When a feature later needs a permission you declined, Posty records it and the card shows Missing permissions. Reconnecting and allowing everything clears it.
Connect Threads step by step
- 1
Open Channels and choose Threads
In your workspace, open Channels and select the Threads tile under Connect a channel. Posty opens Threads in a small window, or in the whole tab if your browser blocks pop-ups.
- ThreadsConnect account
The Threads tile on the Channels page, which reads: Connect account - 2
Sign in to Threads and allow access
Sign in on Threads’ screen as the profile you post from and allow every permission. Finish within 10 minutes, or the attempt expires and you start again.
- 3
Let the window close
Threads sends you back, the window closes and the profile is connected. There is nothing to pick in Posty.
Check it worked
When it works, Posty shows
“Threads connected successfully!”
The profile appears under Connected channels with its name and @username. Select the status icon on the card: a green check and Connected mean it is ready to publish.

Connected
The Harbour Bakery Threads account is fully connected.
Reconnect Threads
Threads access expires unless it is renewed, and Posty renews it in the background, so the card says it stays connected automatically.
If renewal ever stops working, the card shows Reconnect soon with a countdown in the final week. Select Reconnect and sign in as the same profile; Posty updates the existing channel.

Fix common Threads connection errors
Each message below is what Posty shows, followed by what to do about it.
- “Threads connect session expired. Please try again.”
- Finish within 10 minutes of selecting the tile, in the same browser.
- “Failed to connect Threads. Please try again.”
- Posty shows this when the request is declined on Threads’ screen as well as for other errors. Start again from the Threads tile and allow every permission.
- “Couldn’t connect Threads. Workspace context was lost; try again from the channels page.”
- Open Channels in the workspace you want to connect to and select the Threads tile there.
- The card says Missing permissions
- Someone unticked a permission on the network’s screen. Select Reconnect on the channel and allow everything listed. The warning clears once the reconnect completes.
- “Upgrade to connect”
- The workspace has used every channel its plan includes. Starter connects up to 10; Growth and Accelerate have no limit. Disconnect a channel you no longer use, or change plan.
Plan every network on one calendar
Connect your networks once, then plan, approve and publish to all of them from one calendar.
