Connect Discord to Postywith a channel webhook

Posty posts to Discord through a webhook, a link Discord creates for one channel that lets an app post messages there. You sign in with Discord to pick the server, then paste the webhook URL for the channel.

What you need
The Manage Webhooks permission on the server
Where you sign in
Discord’s screen, to list your servers
How long it lasts
Until the webhook is deleted in Discord

Before you connect Discord

Have these ready and the connection takes a couple of minutes.

Manage Webhooks on the server
Posty only lists servers where your Discord role includes Manage Webhooks. If a server is missing, ask one of its admins for that permission.
One channel per server
Each server connects once per workspace and posts to the channel its webhook belongs to. Saving a new webhook for the same server replaces the old one.
A Posty plan that includes channels
Free includes Link in Bio only. Starter connects up to 10 channels per workspace; Growth and Accelerate have no channel limit. You can try any paid plan for 7 days, once per team: the trial needs a card and bills automatically unless you cancel.
A role that can connect channels
Only roles with permission to connect channels see the Discord tile on Channels. Roles and permissions

What Posty asks Discord for

Discord needs two things from you, and neither is a password:

Your server list
Discord’s screen asks to share your username and the servers you are in. Posty uses them to list the servers where you can manage webhooks. It adds no bot.
A webhook URL you create
In Discord you create a webhook for the channel and copy its URL. It lets Posty post into that one channel; it is not your Discord password and cannot read the server.
How posts appear
Messages show the webhook’s name and avatar, which you set in Discord. Posty does not ping @everyone, @here or roles.

If you cancel on Discord’s screen, nothing is connected and Posty shows “Failed to connect Discord:” followed by the reason Discord gives.

Connect Discord step by step

  1. 1

    Open Channels and choose Discord

In your workspace, open Channels and select the Discord tile under Connect a channel. Posty opens Discord in a small window, or in the whole tab if your browser blocks pop-ups.

    • DiscordConnect channel
The Discord tile on the Channels page, which reads: Connect channel
  2. 2

    Approve Posty on Discord

Discord asks to share your username and server list with Posty. Approve it within 10 minutes, or the attempt expires and you start again.

  3. 3

    Select the server

Back in Posty, Select a server lists the servers where you can manage webhooks. Pick one and select Next: choose webhook.

  4. 4

    Create the webhook in Discord

In Discord, open the server, right-click the channel you want to post to and choose Edit Channel, then Integrations. Select Create Webhook, or open an existing one, then Copy Webhook URL.

  5. 5

    Paste the URL and save

Paste it into Webhook URL and select Save Connection. Posty checks the webhook exists and belongs to the server you picked, then shows Discord Connected.

    Create a Webhook

Create a webhook in Discord and paste the URL here.

    BackSave Connection
    Posty’s Create a Webhook dialog.

Check it worked

When it works, Posty shows

“Discord Connected”

Close the dialog and the server appears under Connected channels, named after the server with the webhook’s name underneath. Posts you schedule to it appear in the webhook’s channel.

Reconnect Discord

A webhook does not expire, so the card says it stays connected automatically.

If someone deletes the webhook in Discord, posts to it fail with a message asking you to reconnect. Connect Discord again, pick the same server and paste a new webhook URL; it replaces the old one.

Fix common Discord connection errors

Each message below is what Posty shows, followed by what to do about it.

“No servers found where you can manage webhooks.”
Your Discord role lacks Manage Webhooks on every server you are in. Ask a server admin to add it, then connect again.
“Webhook does not belong to the selected server”
The URL is for a channel in a different server. Select Back and pick the server the webhook belongs to, or create the webhook in the server you picked.
“Invalid webhook URL or webhook not found”
Copy the URL again with Copy Webhook URL. If the webhook was deleted, create a new one.
“The Discord webhook no longer exists. Reconnect the Discord channel.”
The webhook was deleted in Discord. Create a new one and connect Discord again for the same server.
“Failed to connect Discord: invalid_state”
Approval took longer than 10 minutes, or finished in a different browser. Select the Discord tile again.
“Upgrade to connect”
The workspace has used every channel its plan includes. Starter connects up to 10; Growth and Accelerate have no limit. Disconnect a channel you no longer use, or change plan.

Plan every network on one calendar

Connect your networks once, then plan, approve and publish to all of them from one calendar.
